Gurgaon: The toll plaza at Kherki Daula on NH-8 will shift beyond IMT Manesar to Sehrawan, 15km down the road from its current location. The Haryana government on Tuesday announced it had transferred 65 acres of land in Sehrawan to the National Highways Authority of India to move the toll plaza there.
The shift, which has been on the cards for a while, means thousands of residents of new sectors along the SPR and Dwarka expressway and thousands more travelling to and from IMT Manesar, the industry hub, will move outside the toll ambit.
State PWD minister Rao Narbir Singh, who announced the land transfer, also assured a quick removal of the toll plaza from Kherki Daula. “We are hopeful the NHAI will complete the removal of the toll plaza in a timely manner,” said Narbir.
The minister was speaking during chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s visit to Gurgaon to inaugurate the state’s biggest rest house that has 100 rooms, including eight VIP suites and a governer suite. Khattar also laid down the foundation stone for a new excise and tax department office in Sector 32, which will be built across an area of 1.5 acres. “Gurgaon provides 25 % of the state’s revenue is the financial capital of the state. After the implementation of GST, 35,000 businesses in Gurgaon have registered themselves,” Khattar said.
He also said the state government is focused on extension of the metro line in and around Gurgaon, and that construction of the state university campus at Kankrola-Bhangrola will start by March 31, 2018. The CM announced a multi-level parking for the congested Sadar Bazaar too.
